Louisburg, N.C. – Franklin Regional Medical Center has contracted with Wake Radiology Consultants to perform inpatient and outpatient Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging.
“The same high quality and trustworthy service that is consistently provided to patients in the heart of the Triangle will now be available in Franklin County’s backyard,” said Jason Proctor, president of Franklin Regional.
“The physicians of Wake Radiology will provide 24/7 coverage of radiology services in partnership with Franklin Regional’s Emergency Department services and comprehensive Hospitalist program,” he said.
Wake Radiology is the largest radiology group in the Triangle, with 58 radiologists performing more than 665,000 procedures each year. “Wake Radiology was identified as the highest quality provider that could meet the radiographic needs identified by Franklin Regional’s medical staff and the Franklin County community,” Proctor said.
“We are excited to have such a comprehensive and specialized team on board,” said Diane Gibbs, director of radiology at Franklin Regional. “We believe Wake Radiology will bring a high level of expertise and service to give our patients the best care possible,” she added.
Wake Radiology physicians have been part of the Franklin Regional medical staff since the inception of the hospital, including having several charter medical staff members when the hospital’s doors first opened in 1951. The group has continued to partner with Franklin Regional throughout the years in various forms, most recently offering diagnostic and imaging services in 2006.
The Wake Radiology team’s other hospital affiliations include WakeMed North Healthplex, WakeMed Raleigh Campus, Johnston Medical Center, Maria Parham Medical Center, and Central Regional Hospital.
Dr. Joseph Melamed will be the medical director of the Radiology Department at Franklin Regional. As a medical director, Dr. Melamed will be involved in the development of service line offerings and capital equipment purchases, as well as several other administrative duties facilitating improvement of Franklin Regional’s delivery of care.
“I’m enthused to return as the medical director of the Radiology Department at Franklin Regional to establish protocols for the same advanced imaging procedures we perform in the Triangle area,” said Dr. Melamed.
