Franklin Regional Medical Center receives diabetes education recognition
Louisburg, N.C. – Franklin Regional Medical Center’s diabetes education program received the certificate of education recognition from the American Diabetes Association. This recognition is given to organizations that demonstrate that they provide high-quality self-management education services to the diabetes community.
“We are proud to receive this recognition once again,” said Julie Kephart, dietitian and certified diabetes educator at Franklin Regional. “It is a pleasure to be a part of such a passionate program and I am so happy we are able to touch the lives of the diabetes community here in Louisburg and Franklin County.”
Franklin Regional’s outpatient diabetes management program was originally awarded education recognition in August of 2001 and continues to offer quality diabetes education to the community it serves. Educational recognition is a process through which programs that meet the criteria of the national standards for diabetes self-management education are formally identified for their performance and quality. Applications receive rigorous and thorough review.
“We are thankful to the hospital and administration for providing us an environment in which we are able to pursue a high quality program,” said Wendy Blackburn, director of education and certified diabetes educator. “We have been given the tools and resources we need to truly make a difference in this program and the community.”
