Franklin Regional Medical Center welcomes hospitalist program medical director
Louisburg, N.C. – Gaddy Lassiter, RPh, MBA, MD has joined the Franklin Regional Medical Center medical staff as the medical director of the Novant Inpatient Care Specialists Franklin, NICS, also known as the hospitalist program, effective July 1. Dr. Lassiter is nationally board-certified in family medicine. He comes to Franklin Regional from Southampton Memorial Hospital, where he served as the program director of the hospitalist service.
“I am excited to be joining the Franklin Regional hospitalist team,” said Dr. Lassiter. “Hospitalists are the fastest growing specialty in medicine and I look forward to applying my previous experience and knowledge of hospitalists to help this new program grow.”
Franklin Regional introduced their hospitalist program in February 2010. The program provides Inpatient Care Specialists, consisting of nationally board-certified physicians and qualified support staff dedicated exclusively to the care of hospitalized adult patients, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Upon admission, each patient will be assigned a hospitalist, and the patient’s primary care physician will be notified of the patient’s condition and treatment. The primary doctor will send the necessary medical records to the hospitalist.
“We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to take care of patients when they are admitted to the hospital,” explained Dr. Lassiter. “We consult with each patient’s primary care physician, help the patient through their hospital stay and then we turn the patient back over to their primary care physician for follow-up. We’re here to provide a level of comfort and the individual attention needed when a primary doctor is unavailable, which greatly benefits our patients.”
Dr. Lassiter graduated as a doctor of medicine from East Carolina University School of Medicine. He is a two time graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he became a licensed and registered pharmacist. He also has a master’s of business administration with an emphasis on healthcare administration.
“Dr. Lassiter will be an integral part of both the hospitalist team and the hospital as a whole,” said Andy Bailey, assistant administrator at Franklin Regional. “He is very committed to getting involved with all facets of our patient safety and quality of care initiatives. His addition to our medical staff is just another step forward for Franklin Regional since our partnership with Novant Health began.”
Dr. Lassiter will also serve on numerous medical staff and performance improvement committees in his role as medical director.
