Passion

Want to meet some passionate people? If so, the 3 certified diabetes educators (CDE) at Franklin Regional want to know about their Diabetes Self Management Education  team. Meet Julie Kephart and Susan White, both Registered Dietitians and CDEs with over 40 years of experience together.  “Years ago, my patients were given a list, and were told only to choose foods from it” says Julie Kephart, RD, LDN, CDE, “now, we ask our patients what they like to eat, and incorporate it into their individualized meal plan”.  Not only that, adds dietitian Susan White, RD, MS, CDE “we ask when and how they eat, what they do on a daily basis, and work around their lifestyle”“It is indeed a collaborative effort” adds Wendy Blackburn, RN, MS, CDE, “one of the first things we ask our patients is what their goals are, then use a team approach tailored to that person…it has got to be a plan that works for them”
