Heart of Carolina Pain Clinic
The Heart of Carolina Pain Clinic accepts patients by referral from
other physicians only. Many pain syndromes are treated at the Clinic,
including:
- lower back pain
- sciatica
- reflex sympathetic dystrophy
- trigger point injections for fibromyalgia
- post-herpetic neuralgia
- occipital neuralgia
- and many others
As individual treatment plans are
developed, they may often include specialized testing (MRI scans),
nerve blocks (epidural injections), referral to physical therapy,
psychological counseling and medications to reduce pain. Nerve blocks
are frequently done with sedation for the safety and comfort of the
patient.
The Heart of Carolina Pain Clinic, which is located at Franklin
Regional Medical Center, was founded in 2000 by Dr. Steven J. Schwam, M.D. The primary mission of Heart of Carolina Pain Clinic is to
provide help to people suffering with chronic pain disorders, so that
they may gain control of their pain. The clinic utilizes a modality
oriented approach to assist patients in achieving their individual
goals. We have been fortunate in providing pain relief and/or pain
control to thousands of individuals since the beginning of the clinic.
